Magic is like painting, and the world is your canvas

Through the Motions is a story about Deanna Richardson, an amateur painter who gains magic powers after a chance encounter with a witch who lives in her neighborhood. As this is her first exposure to magic, she strives to figure out how to use her new powers while trying to balance her hobby, her social life, and a part-time job.

The first chapter of the story was published on February 15, 2019, but has been on hiatus since February 2020, and has been discontinued as of November 2021. It can also be read at Archive of Our Own, FictionPress, and Wattpad. More in-depth information can be found on TV Tropes.

The author recommends this story for teen and older audiences for some mild foul language and occasional violence.
